STREET STYLE LFWM JUNE 2019

It’s been a while since I’ve posted some street style. I usually post it on my dedicated street steer style blog JSTREETSTYLE, but thought I’d share this one with you all.

London Fashion Week Mens was only the one day experience this time around for me, but what a day. For once am not going to post images of cool looking dudes in a whistle & flute, suits to you non Cockney Londoners. This post features regular cool people with individuality of some kind that I like and admire.

Starting off with a cool visual artist that is so impressive and skilled. Her name is Monzie Terri and her brand is Euqinom7Designs. She’s only just warmed up now. Wait until she really starts sprinting with her concetps and designs, but she sure is impressive.
Like clubbing, cyberpunk, partying and looking for something different but functional. then get in touch with her. You will be hearing about her in the future I can assure you. You might notice the legendary Japanese designer Mishiko Koshino, who had this cool presentation that her presence was an integral part of. An interesting fun and playful concept.

LFWM AW 2019 FREYA IN VINTAGE MENSWEAR

ROCKING VINTAGE STYLE AT LFWM AW 2019 WITH FREYA

Was it really 6 months already? How time flies. Well once again the fashion circuit is back in full swing, with the first of its many events. Starting off this time with London Fashion Week Men’s AW 2019.

Do you remember the lovely and amazing Harper Silin rocking some serious vintage style in menswear? As styling her went down so well, am still getting much interest in what I did with her, and as part of that, an opportunity arose to work with another Chinese style maiden. One you’ve met before. Freya SinyuSiu.

After some planning, we both decided it had to be menswear at London Men’s, but with a twist. The look we came up with consisted of a Men’s tuxedo tailcoat by Saint Durant Airey from around 1910-1920s, a men’s shirt from Cezari with a silk tie & vintage cufflinks, vintage silver brocade trousers from Kate Moss for Topshop, and heels by Kurt Geiger, which due to the insanely cold weather, Freya wisely substituted for a pair of closed ankle boots by Gucci, otherwise iced toes could have well popped up on someones menu at some point later. Another addition was the lovely cylindrical statement bag by YSL.

Freya seemed to gain a lot of attention, which is nice to sit back and observe as a Stylist.
As a photographer, one has to engage directly, though these days, you do see so many that stand back and simply copy what everyone else does, never once thinking to set up and create their own unique shot, and to shoot so many frames yet never once ask who it is they are photographing, nor consider to ask, “what is it that you’re wearing?”           Now imagine such a thing at a major fashion based event.

Freya. You clearly get the thumbs up, not only from myself, but from many others too it would seam.
Sincere thanks and gratitude for allowing me to style you, and for you to carrying it off with that unique sense of style of yours, that clearly, everyone likes.

CLASSIC CAR BOOT SALE 2018

The Classic Car Boot Sale comes back to London once again. This is the super cool gathering that takes place every once in a while, at Granary Square in London’s Kings Cross, and put together by designer Wayne Hemingway, featuring curated vintage fashion venders, classic vintage cars from various eras, various DJ spinning actual vinyl on the top deck of a special old route master bus, street food that’s so in these days, from around the globe. Remember the Chopper and Tomahawk bicycle’s? You could see them there too, along with mods on their Vespa’s and Lambretta motorcycles, vintage taxi’s and ice cream venders everywhere, on a hot sunny Saturday. Yes, the summer actually came back to London for the day.

For me as you all know, fashion is my life, especially if vintage, and the angle I will tend to take when looking at many events. Many of the attendees to the vintage fashion selling event, actually turned up dressed in vintage fashion.

Here is an edit of some of the images I shot of those cool and stylish people that made that extra effort to rock some vintage style.

Enjoy.

Hopefully I’ll see you at the next event, and if vintage fashion and style inspires or interests you, why not give me a call or get in touch, and ask for a consultation. The service I provide as a Personal Stylist specialising in vintage fashion, gives you access to some of the finest examples of one off original pieces of personally curated vintage fashion items, from my very own cllection and archive sourced over 15 years.

HARPER AT #LFWM – JUNE 2018

HARPER AT LONDON FASHION WEEK MEN’S

This weekend was a very special one. It was London’s turn to celebrate the style of men.
Men don’t normally get the attention you would think when it comes to style. That is a statement that I feel has been quite noticeable over some years. Most certainly the fashion industry in general does cater for mens style a lot more, but it is nowhere on the level that it does upon womenswear.

So on the major Fashion Week circuit New York, London, Milan and Paris, it was London’s turn to cater to the needs and wishes of those men courting style itself.

To celebrate this, the BFC British Fashion Council gives men its very own Fashion Week.

London Fashion Week Men’s SS 2019.

My muse the amazing Harper Silin, was interested in seeing the menswear shows, so we set out to investigate.
Together we decided that I would style harper to attend the event. The images from this blog post, all shot and styled by myself, are of Harper in looks that I have created for her, that represent her personality, character and style, and would be suitable for #LFWM.
To me it made clear sense being the nature of the four day event, and the fact this was a very special occasion for the fashion loving #Harper, that she be dressed reflecting menswear. Harper is very much feminine, so to dress her in menswear has to be done with tact. The other factor with Harper is that blink and you’ll miss her. She is tiny with classic Chinese or Asian Millennial physique. so popping to the high street to pull a few items is out as most UK small sizes on Asian bodies swamp their tiny frames. Well we managed to do quite well. Harper thoroughly enjoyed herself, and from the reactions so far, the event and it’s global attendees of buyers, stylists, fashion industry types and of course fashion press and media, it’s many street style photographers and increasing video crews, appear to very much like Harper and her sense of style.

Many thanks to the folks at the #BFC, and all that attended #LFWM SS2019, for being so kind to her, and for your clear and positive reaction Harper and her style.

Please enjoy these images of what I truly believe is one day, a future star.

Day 1. Harper is seen here wearing a black jacket by DSquared2, with a vintage 1950s swimsuit, cats eye sunglasses, a bag by GB David, and heels by Aruna Seth.

Day 2. Harper is seen wearing a vintage menswear look of bespoke Victorian trousers from H. Huntsman & Sons of Savile Row, with braises, a waistcoat by Buckley Tailors, a shirt by Community Clothing, a red tie, a bag by GB David, and vintage heels by Perez Juan.

JAPANESE STREET STYLE HITS CAMDEN SPRING 2018

Japanese Street Style hits Camden

In the wee early hours of the morning, I was scrolling through Instagram, and spotted the lovely Kiriko Takemura, better known as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. The Cute Superstar of Japanese J-pop, and ambassador of Kawaii fashion, was in London to perform at legendary Koko in cool, trendy and very colourful Camden. One could say, London’s very own Harajuku.

Sadly her post said the gig was “SOLD OUT”, so sadly I cannot share with you any pictures of the super cool and most pretty little one. You’ll just have to buy a copy of JAPANESE STREET STYLE
and have a look at page 85, to see the pictures I shot of the lovely woman I spotted on Omotesando in Harajuku looking way cool and super stylish, way before she became the superstar that she is today.

What I did manage to get you was a taster of the many cool and funky people, dressed in kawaii style or at the very least, fashionably touched by Japanese style, and I believe looked great. See for yourselves. I’m sure you’ll all agree.

Images featured show Effi from West London, wearing a playsuit by Cyberdog, a long sleeve rainbow coloured shirt by Japanese brand Galaxy, with cool socks from Takeshita Dori in harajuku, Tokyo and shoes from eBay.

Karen Nagato from London, dressed all in black in Gothic Lolita style, she wears a dress by Atelier Pierrot, a bag by Irregular Choice and Mon Lily sweet doll shoes by Honey Cherry.

Jibby from London who wears a pink vintage baby doll dress, with ankle boots from TK Max.

THE GREAT GATSBY

Getting the jitter’s over The Great Gatsby only to get the bug.
That’s just what quite a select few stylish individuals managed to do, on a wet Sunday evening in London.

Many of the women and men, were suitably dressed for a special theatrical and immersive performance, of the 1920s themed F. Scott Fitzgerald Jazz age story.

The lead image in this particular blog post, curtusy of Adam Chan is of the super stylish Chinese Fashion buyer and influencer Harper Silin, seen wearing an original vintage 1920s flapper dress, styled by Pat Lyttle. This she partnered with an original 1920s mini handbag, silver shoes,  pearls and other neck flattering sparklers.

The entire event was courtesy of The Guild Of Misrule.
Many thanks to the organisers for allowing me to hang around outside to bring to you this post.

LONDON FASHION WEEK AW 2018 – Part 2

SOCKS WITH HEELS.

Here are those Kendall pearly metallic spiked block heel sandals by Gucci. Worn here with socks.

Ah yes!  That eternal argument. Socks with heels. We can can hear some of you in rage just over the thought of such a thing, others shaking your head, saying absolutely not among yourselves. We see you all. We hear those thoughts loud and clear.

The huge trend for funky and cute socks with heels that swept Japan back in the late 90s early 2000s made quite an impact and influence on the mainstream world of High end fashion, as it always does. Miuccia Prada was a keen watcher, and her Spring 2008 reflected it. Long socks with those beautiful secret garden flower heels. Think you can quite guess, at street fashion blog JSTREETSTYLE, we’re on the side of socks with heels. Ardent campaigners for the cause we’d say.

At London Fashion Week, you could see this trend in practice. Even the clear and present influence, culminating  in the guise of quite exciting offspring, Fendi, Vetements among the popular few on show.

LONDON FASHION WEEK AW 2018 Part 1

LONDON FASHION WEEK AW 2018

It is once once again that time of the year. The collective mass of fashion industry and passionista fashionistas all gather on mass, to celebrate or pay homage to the latest and greatest visions from the catwalk, by the good, the bad and the terribly provocative and naughty. Yes its the latest instalment from the global Fashion Week season,

London Fashion Week.

A weekend of fantastic weather brought us the start of the big shows and names of British fashion. Then Monday came along and put the dampeners on the entire event. Forget the limos and luxury VIP cars to transport said guests from show to show, what should have been provided was cohoes and water wear. That said the shows managed to take place, gifting insight to all of the delights of the season to come, or if you’re into the new fast fashion and have the need to see no, buy now, your tastebuds for fashion, must surely be flowing with eager excitement and anticipation.

From the great outdoors and on the land of street style, there were several and obvious trends that could easily be spotted.

We will try to show you some of them over the next few posts. You can expect to see lots of pretty footwear and foot candy, with bold vivid colour sock boots, novel statement piece lighter heels from Vetements to name a few.

So let’s start off the proceedings with a few postings, of some of the many images we worked ever so hard, to bring directly to you. We do hope you’ll enjoy this journey through the sights of the style, as captured on London’s streets, during London Fashion Week.

PARIS FASHION WEEK SS 2018 Part 2

We’ll forego the usual update to bring to you, the latest Footsie Index.

In this particular forecast, we catch a glimpse of dark suede cutout boots from Giuseppe Zanotti, with a flash of monograms from Louis Vuitton heading up the rear. Earlier, sightings indicate the bold black offerings with an underlay of gold from Charlotte Olympia. Even in the rainy seasons to come, Chanel offers a silver lining and a glittery outcome that will not just sit around ones ankles. With a foot of pure gold non moving, one can occasionally feel or perceive a general darkness from the likes of Givenchy, but it does present itself with a certain sense of style, just like all the others featured.
